The Forum on Automotive Aftermarket Sustainability (FAAS) has been established as a joint initiative of the automotive aftermarket sector promoted by the FIGIEFA and CLEPA.
A kick-off meeting was held in September in Frankfurt attended by 12 associations, 20 suppliers, 11 wholesalers and 6 international trading groups. In the meeting, the participants discussed the mission and objectives of the FAAS and 4 work streams were identified as most relevant regarding their potential contribution towards a more sustainable aftermarket.
The FAAS will start its activities by focusing initially on four work streams and a Working Group will be created for each issue to frame the related discussions and work:
Working Group 1: Study on CO2 footprint (analysis of status & solutions for improvements)
Working Group 2: Remanufacturing of parts
Working Group 3: Standardised calculation method of product carbon footprint
Working Group 4: Optimisation of Supply Chain Logistics.
FIGIEFA and CLEPA would like to gather a pool of experts for each Working Group to work on its particular issue on a regular basis. The organisations are therefore asking all the sector associations, companies and groups to publicise this initiative within their network in order to gather a pool of experts that would be willing to be actively involved in the work of the FAAS Working Groups and to offer their knowledge and experience.
