As we enter the wetter months, parts specialist First Line has highlighted how it can solve a common issue with the wiper motor on the Renault Clio 2001>10.

The location of this motor makes it prone to premature failure, because over the course of time, debris such as leaf matter and road grime can clog the drain hole in the motor and linkage housing. This causes the area to fill with rainwater, which means the motor’s bearing and seal are permanently submerged. This constant immersion gradually leads to the water penetrating the bearing and causing it to seize, often burning out the motor in the process.

To resolve the situation, technicians need to replace the wiper motor, but during the procedure, must also remember to clear the blockage. In addition, proactive workshops should advise customers who drive this vehicle to keep an eye on the situation to ensure it is kept free of debris and able to drain properly.

First Line’s FWM1004 is a direct replacement, supplied with all the necessary nuts and bolts as standard for easy installation. First Line recommends that motor factors keep a stock of this reference, especially as we are now in the autumn and winter period when demand could be high.
