Gates have added 15 new thermostats to its range now offering the best coverage (93%) of the European car market. With their OE design and self-cleaning and self-aligning valve, the Gates thermostats offer an exact fit and prevent leakage. 

The 15 new thermostats cover some of the more recent models of the BMW 1 and 3 Series, Fiat Punto, Ford Mondeo, Mazda 5, Opel Astra and Volvo S40.

The latest development in Gates' thermostat range is map-controlled thermostats.  These highly advanced thermostats are controlled by the motor management system which regulates a heating resistor in the wax element of the thermostat. This new technology allows for a more accurate engine warm-up and a continuous adjustment of the coolant temperature to the current driving situation.

The result is lower fuel consumption, fewer emissions, less wear and extended durability from a range that covers many brands from a small stock holding.  Less stock is required because the Gates thermostat range includes different seals and gaskets, so the same thermostat reference can be used for a whole range of vehicle types. For example, TH00188G1 covers over 1035 applications including Peugeot 106, Skoda Octavia, Citroen Saxo, Volkswagen Golf, Audi A4 and Renault Clio.

Gates add that some gaskets have an adhesive back that eliminates the need for gasket cement and cuts installation time by up to 50%.
