TV Star Darren Kennedy was in Dublin City centre to celebrate GoCar, Ireland’s only car sharing club reaching the milestone of 100 GoCar vehicles in the city.
Kennedy, a frequent user of the service joined in the celebrations with the car sharing club hoping to celebrate another milestone shortly in surpassing 20,000 trips in2015.
GoCar also enjoys a membership base of over 4,000 people. Membership growth for GoCar can be largely attributed to the license granted by Dublin City Council in July 2013 to operate on-street from their 30,000 pay-and-display parking spaces. This license enabled GoCar to initially place 50 vehicles from 31 pay-and-display locations in highly visible and convenient locations.
At the celebrations, Darren Kennedy commented; “Like so many others, my schedule can be quite intense and hectic at times therefore GoCar is a fantastic option for me when I need to dash to a meeting, event or work gig around the city. As someone who needs to get from A to B quickly, GoCar is ideal from my point of view, so easy to use and the on-street parking is a real plus to the service. The cars are always in pristine condition and the locations are ideal too.”
Niall Carson, Business Development Manager at GoCar Ireland commented; “Darren’s situation is a classic case in point of how GoCar is providing a convenient and cost effective travel solution to Dublin and Cork drivers. People need to travel, but that no longer means they need to own a car.”
“Since we launched the service, the demand has continually grown, to such a point now where we have expanded our fleet to 100 vehicles to cater for this”.
GoCar works on a pay-per-trip basis which allows users the freedom to access a vehicle as and when they need it for as little as an hour at a time. Members using on-street GoCars aren’t charged for parking at any pay-and-display parking space, allowing users to budget for the essential vehicle trip they wish to make while removing the stress and cost associated with NCT’s, vehicle servicing and insurance premiums.
