Honda specialist Dream Automotive, based in Hertfordshire in the UK, has been putting the new CP8849 Cordless ½” Impact Wrench from Chicago Pneumatic through its paces and the company, that has built its reputation on providing cars with a performance edge, has been very impressed with the results.

Dream Automotive, which is a title sponsor of the VTEC Challenge racing series, is a specialist in modifications and upgrades for Honda models and its busy workshop will tackle anything from basic servicing to complete race preparation. As such, the technicians at Dream place tough demands on their tools and equipment.

Owner Phil Crafford said, “We were impressed by the touch pad on the back of the tool which made choosing the right power option so simple.” He added, “It is a very well balanced tool, making single-handed use easy and with full power in reverse it had no difficulty undoing tight wheel nuts.”

Working on a Honda Civic FK2, Phil used the tool to great effect on removing and replacing the Crank pulley. He commented, “The power of the tool is superb and the four led lights are a great help in illuminating any job.”

Chicago Pneumatic studied the usage of power tools while changing tyres and came up with the highly effective CP8849 design to make the operator’s job much easier and prevent over-tightening.  The company says that the CP8849 is the first true ½” cordless impact wrench in its power class with two shut-off positions. With a choice of slow mode, 50% power and fast mode, the CP8849 puts the operator in full control of tightening operations and proactively guides critical parameters such as torque.
