Honda UK has opened what it calls a “next generation” dealership at Romford in Essex. Operated by dealer group Inchcape, the new premises are said to be the most environmentally friendly of their kind, featuring many new innovations designed to reduce the dealership’s carbon footprint and cut operating costs.

The building recycles rainwater, which when treated is clean enough to wash cars, and uses ground source heating pumps and solar power to heat the showrooms. Rather than harmful air conditioning, the dealership uses a system of natural vents to stay cool when it is sunny. Honda says that this will mean the site will use 30% less energy than a standard showroom.
