The taxi business is set for a revolution according to iCabbi, Ireland’s first virtual taxi dispatch company.
The company has just concluded tests in Dublin and Cork and will roll out its new service over the coming months. With iCabbi, you won’t have to call a cab company to get a taxi, you will simply order it through a special Smart phone application or website.
iCabbi says the system offers huge advantages to both customers and taxi drivers. For example, customers will be automatically dispatched the nearest available car to them and they will be able to track its progress on screen. They will also know the type of car and the driver details before it arrives.
From a driver point of view, efficient dispatch can greatly cut mileage, fuel costs and emissions, while they also have more accurate information on who and where they are collecting.
Initially launching in Dublin (where it has 250 drivers) and Cork (40 drivers) before rolling out to the rest of the country soon after, iCabbi has already formed strategic relationships with Nokia, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and the website Georgina Campbell’s Ireland. This will see the iCabbi service being made available to their customers, on their phones, in their shops and on-line. You can also book cabs through any web browser on www.iCabbi.com.
