As we encounter growing numbers of commuters on electric scooters on our streets an Irish company is to the fore in supplying scooters to cities all over Europe.

Irish electric scooter company, ZEUS has received approval from the Department for Transport in the UK (DfT) for its range of public sharing electric scooters to be available for public hire in various UK cities.
 

ZEUS was founded by former banker, Damian Young who initially launched the micro mobility product in the southern German city of Heidelberg in June of this year.  Since then, the company has signed agreements with 11 other German cities and is now in talks with 8 other European countries.  The management team has plans in place to be up and running in 20 European cities by the end of this year as well as having 7,000 scooters on the roads or cycle paths of Europe by the end of 2021. 
 

E-scooters are now available in over 400 cities globally and are anticipated to dominate urban transport infrastructure, in line with micro mobility roll outs, across the world over the next 10 years.  Ronan Garvey Chief Operating Officer at ZEUS said, “Electric scooters are clean, green and safe and can provide the socially distanced public transportation mode we need right now in these dangerous coronavirus times.”

In the midst of a global pandemic the company is growing and indeed thriving. ZEUS already employs 10 people in Germany and expects to grow this to 40 over the next 12 months.
