An innovative new range of electric vehicles was launched at the Energy Show at the RDS in April and what’s more it was all the work of an Irish company. Verde Autos is a 100% Irish owned Electric Vehicle company based in Cork. It offers a range of compact commercial vehicles, which includes a Cargo Van, Pick Up & Mini Bus.
The company says all the vehicles produce zero emissions, are silent and have significantly lower operating and maintenance costs than petrol and diesel alternatives. This they point out can significantly reduce fleet running costs.
Verde electric vehicles can be charged by plugging into any 220V socket with no other equipment needed. The cost of a full charge is just over €1, which gives a driving range of 100km. The vehicles also have less maintenance costs and road tax of only €80 per annum. The models also attract capital allowances from SEI (Sustainable Energy Ireland). Several agencies such as The National Parks, Bord na gCon and the Port of Cork are already using Verde Autos vehicles, which the company says can help Ireland meet its future emissions targets.
