Tyre maker, Hankook, has presented its latest airless i-Flex concept tyre as part of a cooperation with Hyundai.

Hankook says the design offers excellent shock absorption and load-bearing capacity while it also offers benefits in terms of safety and a reduction of maintenance costs. The technology is said to be especially suitable for future autonomous mobility vehicles as it requires no air-pressure monitoring or refills.

To absorb shocks from the road and to carry heavy loads, the tyre has a multi-layer interlocking spoke design inspired by the cellular structure of living organisms. In addition, a c-shaped concave tread profile ensures the maximum contact patch, contributing to improved safety.
