AkzoNobel has launched a new version of its popular Lesonal waterborne basecoat. Called Lesonal Basecoat WB GT, speed and performance have been improved using the latest developments in pigment and binder technology. The new basecoat also features enhanced application and fade-out characteristics, invisible blending and much shorter flash-off times.

Jon Amor, VR Premium Manager commented, “We’re delivering ease of use and enhanced performance to our customers with the new ‘GT’ version.  Customers will particularly see improvement in its application characteristics, leading to better colour control and outstanding colour accuracy, as well as easy mixing, smooth application, invisible blending and short flash-offs.”

Jon says that the introduction of Lesonal Basecoat WB GT will form part of a new campaign centring on product performance and application processes rather than the more traditional vehicle focus. The campaign features a new brand tagline that summarises Lesonal’s promise in three simple words: Great Finish. Fast.

The Basecoat WB GT system consists of 65 ready-to-use mixing machine toners, enabling painters to mix countless shades to achieve the perfect colour match. The use of activator is only needed for adjustments under extreme climatic conditions. This makes the process fast, convenient and precise.

Jon says that thanks to its wide application window and good flow, refinishers are assured of a smooth, even appearance before clearcoat application across the full range of repairs without the need to change the spraying technique or to use any special additives. The new system also works in conjunction with Lesonal advanced colour tools for optimal colour accuracy.
