German motor oil specialist Liqui Moly is to be the main sponsor of one of Australia’s leading motor sport events, the Bathurst 12 Hour. The endurance race to be held in February will be called the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour taking place at the famous New South Wales venue.

Racing at Bathurst dates back to 1938, but the track remains largely based on public roads. It is particularly challenging for participants because of its tight corners, long straights and major height differences. More than 50 teams have already registered for this year’s event including Team Engstler which is also sponsored by Liqui Moly.

Liqui Moly has enjoyed particular success in the Australian market over recent years having more than doubled its annual turnover there. Marketing Manager Peter Baumann said, "We want to use this momentum and increase our brand recognition with this race." He added, "In particular we want to convince Australians of 'Made in Germany' quality and continue our Australian success story."
