DPF cleaning service provider Autojob, says that as lockdown travel restrictions are slowly lifted, it is seeing a rapidly rising number of serious DPF issues where the core of the filter has been damaged beyond repair, by excessive forced regeneration.

Justin O Brien of Autojob says, “We are seeing more and more DPFs where the core has literally melted because of the extremely high temperatures required for forced regeneration, combined with a high level of soot loading. This is especially a problem where a vehicle has been used infrequently or for only short journeys in recent months.”

Justin gives the example of many Landrovers where normally a DPF warning light will illuminate amber, but says that with limited vehicle use, many lights now go straight to red indicating a serious issue.

As Justin explains when some garages are approached with DPF issues they may initially try a cleaning solution process which will have only a limited impact were clogging is severe. If this fails to work the next step is usually forced regeneration.

Justin says, “Forced regeneration can only work so many times and even then it is often a short term fix. We offer a professional cleaning job that is highly effective and economical, returning the DPF to 98% as new condition and saving the customer the cost and inconvenience of a replacement.” He adds “With the Autojob service, the garage simply removes the DPF and either sends it in, or has it collected, cleaned and returned with a fast turnaround time. We can clean DPFs for all makes of car, van or jeep using our safe and advanced process.”
