Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh has chosen the Volvo S80 D4 SE Lux Geartronic equipped with Volvo’s latest Drive-E D4 diesel powertrain as the official Mayoral car for 2016.

Tradition dictates that the first citizen of Dublin has the first car registered in the capital each year, for use as transport for official engagements.

The Lord Mayor can enjoy an exceptional standard of specification and power meanwhile retaining economical fuel consumption and low C02 emissions.

Vincent Norton, Executive Manager in the Office of the Lord Mayor commented: "On behalf of A tArdmhéara Bhaile Átha Cliath Críona Ní Dhálaigh and Dublin City Council, I would like to thank Volvo Cars Ireland Limited for providing the Lord Mayor for the fifth successive year with the Volvo S80 D4 SE as the official mayoral car for 2016.  We have been very pleased with the high specification of the Lord Mayor’s Cars and in particular the economical fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.  It also has a very high reputation for safety, in particular city safety.  We are delighted with our ongoing association with Volvo and very much appreciate Volvo’s sponsorship of the Lord Mayors car and the provision of such an elegant and suitable car to assist the Lord Mayor in carrying out her many and varied official functions.”

Adrian Yeates, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland added: "We are delighted to continue supporting the work of the Lord Mayor of Dublin in this way. Our D4 engine is economical and has low Co2 emissions. The Volvo S80 D4 is a visible endorsement of the unique combination of executive comfort and the very low environmental impact that the Volvo range provides."
