Lucky Gerry Murphy from Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, became famous last week when he was revealed as the winner of the weekend’s €6.3 million lotto jackpot.
The popular handyman and carpenter admitted that aside from a sun holiday, the only other purchase that he would make in the short term would be a new Ford Transit.
True to his word, this week, Gerry collected a new Transit Custom model from main Ford Dealer, JJ Griffith Ltd. of Claremorris.
Commenting on his new purchase, Gerry said: "The Transit is a great van that just goes and goes and always gets the job done. I have had one in the past and they really are the best. I am absolutely delighted to be able to get behind the wheel of this lovely new model.”
John Brady, Sales Manager at JJ Griffith Ltd. said: "We wish Gerry many, many kilometres of happy and safe motoring in his new Transit. The Transit nameplate turns 50 this year and since its first arrival in Ireland back in 1965, Transit has been the favourite van of fleet operators, tradesmen, delivery companies and shop owners up and down the country. The new Transit Custom is our best version yet with great fuel efficiency so the fuel costs won’t put too big a dent in Gerry’s bank account!”
Gerry’s Transit Custom has an advanced and economical 2.2 litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine, with six speed manual transmission and front wheel drive. Thanks to Ford’s ECOnetic Technologies, the Transit Custom’s engine lowers the cost of ownership, reduces the van’s impact on the environment and meets stringent Euro Stage V emissions standards.
