We will continue to add to our LuK product range throughout 2013 to ensure we have the best range available in the UK and Irish market-places.”

The company recently warned garages to fit genuine LuK Self Adjusting Clutches (SACs) rather than non-genuine re-engineered replacements. SACs have been chosen by vehicle manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, for resolving the issue of pedal load changes during the lifetime of a diaphragm spring clutch.

The company says the SAC is the only system which is guaranteed to maintain the performance and drivability of the originally fitted parts and warns against the fitment of non-SAC alternatives.
An additional benefit of the SAC design is a lower required pedal load, so rather than today’s high torque engines – and thus higher clamp loads – leading to a much ‘heavier’ operation, the SAC is able to keep the pedal feel light and responsive. Friction wear is also reduced, extending clutch lifetime.

Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd has produced a new leaflet that sets out the merits of the LuK SAC which works by compensating for the wear in the driven plate, using a sensor spring and adjuster ring that controls the diaphragm spring geometry, thus maintaining a constant pedal load. If you would like to obtain an SAC leaflet please contact Customer Services on 0044-1-432-264-264.
