MAHLE highlights turbo opportunities

Much of the independent aftermarket is still failing to recognise the growing business potential for replacement turbochargers according to OE turbo supplier MAHLE.

Around 80% of all new cars manufactured this year will be fitted with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines and with this a trend that has been rising for the past ten years, demand for replacement turbos is seriously on the rise.

VAG has been especially active in turbo engine development and as a result, MAHLE’s aftermarket range includes many applications for VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda models, with like for like OE quality replacements.

MAHLE Aftermarket is ideally placed to exploit demand following the establishment of a joint venture to design and manufacture turbochargers for OE and aftermarket fitment under the Bosch MAHLE Turbo Systems (BMTS) banner. This company has developed a family of exhaust gas turbochargers for car diesel engines with power outputs ranging from 35 to 165 kW, with boost pressure regulated via a wastegate or variable turbine geometry. For petrol engines, the BMTS product portfolio covers power outputs from 45 up to 220 kW.

MAHLE also has turbo fitting kits available for VAG Group models such as the Audi A3, Seat Altea and Leon and VW Golf from model year 2003, PSA products such as the Peugeot 206, 306, 307, 406 and Citroen C5 from 1999, plus Vauxhall Vectra and Saab 9-3 and 9-5 from 2000 – 2005.
