Martin Birrane, Executive Chairman and owner of Mondello Park International Motor Racing Circuit has announced that John Morris is stepping down as Managing Director, a position that he has held since 2002.

Mondello Park is the only FIA licensed motor racing circuit in the Republic of Ireland and is well known for hosting National and International Car and Motorcycle racing events as well as a number of high profile shows such as the annual Jap Fest, The Classic Car Show and The Truck Show. Following a multi-million Euro investment, the Circuit near Naas, just outside of Dublin, is a superb venue for corporate hospitality, product launches and team building events. The corporate business is complemented by its motor racing school, supercar and drift experiences although motor racing remains at the heart of the business.

Martin Birrane said: "John will be leaving us at the end of December to pursue other interests in Motorsport. John advised me of his decision earlier this year. We have been able to plan for this change. John joined me fifteen years ago and took over as General Manager after two years and became Managing Director during his third year with Mondello Park. I will miss his enthusiastic 'can do' attitude. John is an innovator and has worked tirelessly on the numerous projects we have undertaken at Mondello Park. I wish him every success in his new ventures and hope to see him frequently during my visits to Mondello. In the meantime, the senior management is being restructured and will be led by the current Finance Manager Roddy Greene who has been promoted to General Manager. Ian Beatty will take on more responsibility in his role as Operations Manager and I am also taking on a more day to day involvement with the business."

John Morris said: "I felt as though I had another adventure left in me and I informed Martin of my wish to move on. I will always be grateful for the opportunity Martin gave me and the faith and support he has shown me and I consider him both a mentor and a friend."

As well as the change to the position of Managing Director, Martin Birrane confirmed that a new Sales and Marketing Manager will shortly be announced. He added:

"We have been recruiting for a new Sales and Marketing Manager and have seen some excellent candidates. We are in the final stages of making a decision on the appointment of someone who will lead this area of our business into 2015 and beyond."
