Michelin has launched a new on line guide to help truck, bus and coach fleet operators get to grips with new tyre labelling.

Under the European directive EC/1222/2009, tyre labelling comes into force from 1 November 2012 and this new dedicated website explains the legislation, how it is being introduced, the tyres it covers and gives an overview of the rating criteria and what benefits this offers to vehicle operators.

Sharn Samra, Michelin's head of truck & bus marketing in the UK and Ireland says, "The introduction of tyre labelling is a big step for the industry and will act as an important decision-making tool. Naturally, Michelin is keen to support any initiative which will improve the overall quality of tyres on the market."

The new labels cover three criteria, energy efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. These factors are explained on the site.
