Monaghan’s celebrates 65 years Monaghan & Sons became the first dealer in Ireland to acquire the SKODA franchise

To celebrate 65 years in business, Monaghan & Sons, Galway and Castlebar will host a large-scale celebratory event until the 10th of July.


One of the small number of dealers to be part of the SKODA network since day one, Monaghans are a household name in the West of Ireland. The business was first established back in 1948 by Tom and Phyllis Monaghan in Moylough, Co. Galway.

In 1967, they moved the business to Headford. Co. Galway with their family of seven children. In 1992, Leo and Joe Monaghan moved the vehicle sales and service side of the business to the Tuam Road in Galway City. A year later Monaghan & Sons became the first dealer in Ireland to acquire the SKODA franchise.

Commenting, David Monaghan said: “We are extremely proud of what has been achieved over the past 20 years. The last five years have been among the most challenging the car industry has seen, but our products have proven they are fitting for the current environment where customers are attuning to value more than ever before.”
