Now available from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and downloadable from the EPA website is The Smart Garage Guide, a new publication that provides a straight forward and essential guide to waste management in garages, as well as helping motor trade businesses be more efficient and save money.

    The Smart Garage Guide shows in simple terms, how a garage can cut down on waste in its day-to-day activities and how it can safely and legally manage any waste products that are generated. In doing this, the guide states that a garage can not only produce a safer working environment and reduce its environmental impact, but can also make substantial cost savings. The guide also outlines a garage’s legal obligations in relation to waste management.

    Split into various sections, the Smart Garage Guide covers energy saving (with particular emphasis on compressed air), heating and lighting, waste segregation and recycling and the safe and legal disposal of hazardous waste, including oil, batteries and tyres. There is also a section on business best practice, in relation to water usage and a useful documentation guide.
