Sometimes you just need to think big to get a job done and one Norwegian company has done just that. They were finding that their specialist transportation and lifting operation often had call for a large crane, so they have invested in what must be one of the most impressive recovery truck-crane combinations you could find.
The spectacular crane is mounted on a brand new adapted Volvo FH16-700 8x4 chassis and is operated by Klepp Spesialtransport. When the crane arm is fully extended it reaches out a massive 32 meters, and can lift 1.65 tons. Closer to the truck, the crane can lift 14 tons 20 meters up.
The monster crane was the idea of company owners Sjur and Norodd Lode, who specialise in moving construction industry equipment. When asked about the new addition to his fleet Sjur Lode said, tongue in cheek, "Our equipment can never be big enough. The assignments we're taking on are constantly getting larger and heavier. So this crane would probably be big enough for a week or so!"
