With this year’s Valvoline Irish Forestry Rally Championship well underway, the Munster Car Club is busy readying the route for the third counting round of the Championship; the Ballyvourney based Abbey Hotel Moonraker Forestry Rally.
Speaking ahead of the event Clerk of the Course, Ger Seaman said, “The Moonraker route is now finalised and this year is going to be a real test of man and machine. The Rally is now firmly one of the favourite events on the Forestry calendar and we are hopeful that entries climb to new heights again this year.
We work hard with Coillte in the area and put together stages that have been described by leading crews as the ‘Finland of Ireland’ due to the fantastic condition of the roads used in and around the Ballyvourney Area.”
Last year, local hero Keith Cronin won this event with Valvoline Championship winner Josh Moffett in second.
This year the Moonraker will be using familiar terrain but will be using different routes through the forestry. It will still use the ‘Rally 2’ friendly 4 x 2 stages format.
The event takes place on Saturday April 14th to facilitate the many crews travelling from long distances including Northern Ireland and further afield.
Scrutiny, Service and Trailer park are all within walking distance of H.Q, The Abbey Hotel Ballyvourney.
