Four new high profile vehicles have received the maximum 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. The Ford Galaxy, Ford S-MAX, Toyota Avensis and Volkswagen Touran all passed the safety tests with flying colours.
Euro NCAP awarded the Galaxy 2.0 diesel Titanium an 87% mark for Adult Occupant protection, an 87% in Child Occupant protection, 79% in pedestrian safety and 71% for Safety Assist. Corresponding scores for the Ford S-Max were identical.
The Toyota Avensis (1.6 D-4D Touring Sports 5-door Estate) scored 93% Adult Occupant, 85% Child Occupant, 78% Pedestrian safety and 81% Safety Assist on its way to a five star rating. Scores for the Volkswagen Touran were 88%, 89%, 71% and 76% respectively.
Luxury SUV’s the Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 also scored 5 star ratings. The XC90 was particularly commended for earning full marks in the crash avoidance and driver assistance tests. The Renault Kadjar also got a top rating.
