FIAT has released the first official teaser photos of the new FIAT Viaggio which will debut at the Beijing International Auto Show on April 23rd 2012.

The new four-door saloon will be built on FIAT Group's newest and most advanced architecture, the CUSW (Compact US Wide) platform, which is derived from the best-selling Alfa Romeo Giulietta's underpinnings.

At 4,679mm long, 1,850mm wide and with a 2,708mm wheelbase, the Viaggio promises to be one of the roomiest cars in the C-segment, an important consideration for buyers in the biggest selling vehicle segment in China.

The FIAT Viaggio will come with turbo-charged engines. The 1.4-litre T-Jet unit will be available with 120hp or 150hp, mated either to a five-speed manual or Fiat Powertrain Technology's new DDCT dual-clutch transmission.

The new saloon, which was styled by FIAT's Centro Stilo in Turin, will be known as both as "Viaggio" ("Voyage" in Italian) and by its Chinese name "Fei Xiang", which translates as "Flying".

It will be the first car produced in their new GAC-FIAT Manufacturing plant in Changsha, Hunan province, and will go on sale in the third quarter of 2012.
