Spies Hecker has introduced its new Permasolid® HS Performance Surfacer 5320. The company says this flexible application product is suitable for all kinds of repairs and is high-yield and tailored to the innovative waterborne Permahyd® Hi-TEC Base Coat 480, creating a sound substrate every time.

With paint finishes having to meet ever higher standards in terms of simple application, rapid drying and enhanced process reliability, having a fully integrated surfacer system becomes vital. Daniel Hartland, Spies Hecker UK and Ireland Brand Marketing Coordinator says,  “Permasolid® HS Performance Surfacer 5320 is part of the new Spies Hecker Hi-TEC Performance System which is comprised of the Permahyd® Hi-TEC Base Coat 480 and the three HS Clear Coats 8055, 8650 and 8034.” He adds, “The innovative, acrylic-based surfacer is distinguished by its high solids content. This means refinishers need less material.” The economical surfacer provides excellent overspray absorption as well as good surface levelling and according to Daniel, the surfacer can be sanded quickly and easily after drying and can be applied in one to three coats.

In developing the high-grade Performance Surfacer, Spies Hecker has followed the trend in automotive colours. Along with mid grey and black, the product is also available in white. “By offering it in these three shades, the surfacer allows for excellent adaptation to the basecoat,” says Daniel.

The 2K HS sanding surfacer has already been approved by various car manufacturers. Daniel says “Car makers specify certain paint materials and systems for refinish jobs because they’re bound by their guarantees and warranties. It is becoming increasingly important to offer our bodyshops a complete paint system.
