Tradition dictates that the first citizen of Dublin has the first car registered in the capital each year, for use as transport for official engagements.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin Naoise Ó Muirí has chosen a Volvo S80 D3 which is a powerful and economical 2.0 liter Diesel Engine benefiting from CO2 emissions of just 114 g/km (tax band A4) and fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km (65.7 mpg) respectively.

Vincent Norton, Executive Manager in the Office of the Lord Mayor commented:
"On behalf of the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation Volvo Cars Ireland Limited for providing the Lord Mayor for the second successive year with the Volvo S80 D3 SE as the official mayoral car for 2013. We are delighted with our association with Volvo and appreciate having a car for the Lord Mayor with such an exceptional standard of specification including economical fuel consumption and low C02 emissions. We are also delighted to have a car with the high reputation for safety that Volvo has and are very happy with the latest version of the Volvo S80 which is fitted with city safety as standard using cameras and lasers to identify stationary or slow moving city traffic”.

“The Lord Mayor and the City Council very much appreciate Volvo’s sponsorship of the Lord Mayors car and the provision of such an elegant and suitable car to assist the Lord Mayor in carrying out his many and varied official functions”.

Conor Fitzpatrick, Dealer Development Manager of Volvo Car Ireland added:
“We are delighted to be able to support the work of the Lord Mayor of Dublin in this way", It is a visible endorsement of the unique combination of executive luxury and very low environmental impact that the Volvo range provides.  The fact that Volvo is European car manufacturers who strive for reductions in CO2 emissions influenced the decision in favor of Volvo."

The Lord Mayors car comes with a Volvo Winter Pack with Active Bending Lights which includes Heated front seats, Headlight cleaning system and Active Xenon lights. The car, which is in Black Sapphire Metallic, is also specified with soft leather upholstery and 17” Alloys in addition to all the usual executive features you would expect.
