VW caused a few surprises when it unveiled a new Compact Coupé at the Detroit Auto Show recently. VW says it sits between the Golf and the Passat, but is probably also hoping that it might turn the heads of Audi A5 buyers.

The sporty looking car also has hybrid credentials with and independent electric motor reducing emission and boosting fuel economy. VW is keen to stress that the car is still a concept at present and it hasn’t been confirmed whether it will make production, although bosses must have been pleased with the positive reaction.
