Spark plug supplier NGK has been involved in another major motor sport victory, this time on two wheels. NGK is a main sponsor of double world Speedway champion Greg Hancock who has raced to victory in the 2014 FIM British Grand Prix.
The 44-year-old American fought off the challenge of reigning world champion Tai Woffinden to take the title in front of more than 40,000 fans at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
Delighted at his record-equalling third victory in the British GP the Californian said, “I can’t say enough about how unbelievable it is to win in Cardiff in front of these fans. It’s my all-time favourite place.”
Greg scored 14 points from his seven races at Cardiff, beating Woffinden, Australian Darcy Ward (22) and Pole Krzysztof Kasprzak (29) in a thrilling final. His victory over Woffinden means he now trails the 23-year-old Briton by just three points in this year’s championship, as the riders head for the next round of the championship in Riga, Latvia on August 16th.
NGK the supplier of original equipment spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda sensors, has a long-standing association with Speedway. As well as individual riders, it sponsors the Coventry Bees team which competes in the British Elite League.
