NGK has added further strength to its long-standing relationship with Renault by providing the original equipment spark plugs for the new Captur urban crossover. The world’s leading spark plug manufacturer worked closely with Renault on the design of the plugs for the Captur's all turbo engine line-up.
Tim Ward, Deputy General Manager, Sales & Marketing, at NGK Spark Plugs commented, “We have had a long and successful relationship with Renault over many years and our spark plugs are used not only in its engines but also those produced in alliance with Nissan and Dacia.” He added, “Driving pleasure and fuel economy were the common denominators in the vehicle manufacturer’s selection process for Captur and its aspirations were met once again by our engineers.”
The new Renault urban crossover is equipped with the Energy TCe 120 four-cylinder petrol engine and has an EDC (Efficient Dual-Clutch) gearbox, which is said to deliver outstanding driving comfort. It also has low fuel consumption and emissions figures and according to the manufacturer, uses only 5.4 L/100 km in complete cycle and emits just 125g of CO2/km.
The NGK spark plug used, ILKAR7F7G, has an extra long reach M12 thread with a centre electrode equipped with an Iridium tip of 0.6mm diameter and a platinum tip on the ground electrode. Thanks to the precious metal, the gap of 0.7mm stays almost unchanged during the entire 37,000-mile life of the spark plugs ensuring perfect ignition even with the high level of load and turbulences of mixture.
