NGK-sponsored M-Sport World Rally Team’s Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia secured their third consecutive podium at the Rally Mexico to regain the lead in the drivers’ standings.

The Frenchmen took their Ecoboost-powered Ford Fiesta WRC to second place and aided by a fine fourth place from Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, the team has strengthened its lead at the head of the manufacturer standings.

Having encountered Tarmac, snow and gravel in the opening three rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship, the Ford Fiesta has excelled, securing stage victories and podium places across all events.

Reigning FIA World Rally Champion Ogier has 66 points overall, while Ott Tänak is now third in the drivers’ championship with 48 points. Fellow Fiesta driver Elfyn Evans, who with Daniel Barritt finished ninth in the rally, is in eighth position overall. The M-Sport team now has 103 points, 36 in front of the second-placed team Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs said, “It was another great performance by the M-Sport team and their drivers who have continued their impressive start to the season to sit in top position in both main categories. I’m sure that all our customers who follow WRC can look forward to even more fine performances from M-Sport during the rest of the season.”
