At just 14 years of age, teenage motorcycle star James Alderson has been named the BMCM Young Rider of the Year for 2015. The NGK sponsored young rider is following in the footsteps of some of the greats by taking the prestigious award which has been previously won by bike racing legends such as Geoff Duke and Phil Read and current Honda rider Cal Crutchlow.#
Last year James also took the coveted Minnie Grenfell Trophy after finishing third overall in the Kawasaki Ninja 300 Cup. He has been riding since he was seven and Father, Stephan, says his whole life is motorcycling.
Stephen runs a family garage business, R Alderson & Sons, in Durham with his brother Arthur. He is also a motorcycling enthusiast and the proud owner of a Norton 99.
NGK Spark Plugs, an original equipment supplier of spark plugs, glow plugs, NTK Lambda and other engine management sensors to most of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers, is supporting James in his racing development with its spark plugs and merchandise. Stephen says, "As a garage we use NGK spark plugs, glow plugs, NTK Lambda sensors and ignition coils, and we cannot fault them in any way. The products and company have been great.”
This season James plans to compete in the BSB Motostar competition on a Honda 125 as he strives to emulate his hero, John McGuinness.
