The Partners at NMU Auditing & Inspection Services, say they are delighted to have recently been appointed to the panel of Approved Assessors of the EPA, to carry out VOC Compliance Inspections at Vehicle Refinisher Installations across Ireland.

Coupled with their appointment as Auditors and certification partners for TUV SUD Auto Plus GmbH for the new CSS Bodyshop Standard developed by the SIMI, the team say they are looking forward to busy times ahead in 2014.

Formed by John Hargaden of JHA Automotive Consultants and Dr. Arthur O’Sullivan Technical Consultant, NMU draws on a team of highly experienced and qualified auditors to ensure that their work is to the highest standard. Initially, Bernard Breen and Arthur will undertake VOC Compliance Inspections, with further expertise expected to be added in 2014.

Up until last month there was only one option when it came to VOC Compliance Inspection and NMU are looking forward to bringing competition to this sector to the benefit of bodyshops.  Arthur O’Sullivan commented, “Since the initial announcement was made we have been receiving several enquiries every day from Bodyshop owners across the country and we will be working hard to meet these bodyshop needs as we roll out our National Service Plan.

Arthur says there has also been a recent surge in interest with the SIMI CSS Programme and has reported that the EPA very much appreciate the inclusion of environmental auditing items in the CSS checklist. He said, “Our interaction with the EPA Inspectorate during the Approved Assessor application process, confirmed that the EPA are delighted that CSS reviews environmental and VOC Compliance criteria as part of the annual audit cycle. They were delighted that we would be able to confirm compliance on a voluntary annual basis for all of those professional bodyshops that achieve the CSS standard.”’

An added benefit for CSS members is that the VOC Inspection Report can now be completed in conjunction with the CSS audit to reduce time demands and cost.
