Not quite a modern classic

Take a look at the car in the picture and you could easily be forgiven for being a little confused. It looks like a combination of British saloon classics from the 50’s or 60’s, but it is hard to place it exactly. The reason for this is that it is actually a brand new model from Japanese vehicle maker Mitsuoka.

It is called the Ryugi and is basically a Toyota Corolla with a somewhat quirky body. Its shape is something of a mishmash of old Jaguar, Rover and Bentley models. The result is not exactly handsome or classic, yet it will no doubt find a niche sector.

There is a saloon and an estate version of the Ryugi and you can even have it with a hybrid powertrain.
