Could BMW be about to enter the mid-engined sports car sector? The German carmaker recently unveiled a new concept car to mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of the M1, the Lamborghini-designed supercar built between 1978 and 1981. To date, it is the only mid-engined BMW ever built, but the latest concept could be a tester to see if the motoring world has an appetite for the return of such a design. At present BMW insist that the new car is just a design study, but if reaction is positive a new M1 Supercar could be on the cards.
