Oil leaks can often be very tricky to track down and sometimes difficult to fix. Replacing an oil seal will not always remedy the problem if the system is pressurising. What may appear to be a straightforward job is not always so.
The first problem is washing away the oil which has already leaked out and smothered itself all around the engine, then you have to hope the fresh escaping oil will show itself and its source.
The leak on this 2005 Opel Corsa was not going to present a problem, and as soon as I lifted the bonnet I could see the oil dripping from the end of the oil pressure switch. Rarely is it so easy.
The switch is also nicely accessible and so fitting the replacement was almost as quick, all that remained was for the oil to be topped up and the residue down the front of the engine to be cleaned away.
