Defective rear axles are a common problem on certain older Peugeot and Citroën vehicles, which in many cases leads to a total write off as the manufacturer's recommend a total unit exchange. Steering and suspension specialist OPTIMAL, who’s products are distributed in Ireland by Somora, have now introduced new repair kits that make economical repair possible.
The issue concerns Peugeot and Citroën models with torsion-bar rear axles. The weakness of the bearing support of the trailing arm often means increased mechanical wear in the support and on the stub shaft leading to the sealing material letting in water. This in turn means a worn and corroded stub shaft. Noise becomes an issue and a tilting of the rear wheels becomes visible, with serious safety consequences.
PSA repair kits by OPTIMAL make repair economical and efficient. In cooperation with Paschke Profitec, OPTIMAL engineers have developed a non-wearing and cost effective tool enabling an economical repair to be carried out with no need to remove the complete axle.
The complete kit comes in a single pack with full assembly instructions with all components in matching OE quality.
