If you have ever dreamed of owning a MK1 Escort in rally livery, but perhaps don’t have the restoration skills to work on an original, then a new Ford endorsed project might just be the answer.
Boreham Motorworks in the UK is offering a brand new Escort complete with a 70’s look, but with updated styling and technology. It is built from scratch using original blueprints supplied by Ford, who have also given their blessing to the model.
Modern enhancements include LED headlights and carbon fibre bonnet and the boot lid. There are even heated sports seats and air con.
Power comes from either a 1.8-litre twin-cam four-cylinder or a 2.1-litre four-cylinder, both with manual gear boxes.
The makers say that production is limited to 150 units and expect demand to be high. This means that prices are a little more than the original Escort, even in its coveted Mexico version. If you are interested this new Escort is going to set you back well over €300,000.
