The recent problems with Blackberry mobile phones have been found to have an unlikely spin off. It greatly reduced car accidents and may even have saved lives.


Reports from the Gulf States, which have some of the highest Blackberry usage, suggest that for example, in Abu Dhabi accidents were down 40 % during the system outage and down by 20% in Dubai.
