A UK motorist has won a four-year legal battle with Police who had given him a ticket for playing Riverdance too loudly on his car stereo. Markus Aitken, a thirty three year old fan of the Irish dancing musical, received the fine after he stopped to ask a Policewoman directions. The officer apparently did not share his love of the Celtic tune and asked him to turn it down. When he refused Aitken was given a £30 fine.

Mr. Aitken refused to pay the fine on principle and ended up in court facing a demand for £270, after administration charges and bailiff costs were added. The story has a happy ending for Irish dance fans as the judge dismissed the charges and wiped out the debt. Unconfirmed reports say Mr. Aitken jigged out of the courtroom.
