Pot hole damage repair bills on the rise

Research by Warranty Direct in the UK shows that suspension damage caused by pot holes is on the increase and average repair bills are some € 430.

The study of 3-8 year old cars shows the Mercedes Benz R-Class and Saab 9-3 are the cars that suffer most. The Hyundai’s Santa Fe and the Land Rover Discovery also had a high rate of claims for axle and suspension damage.

Warranty Direct MD, David Gerrans, said, "Potholes are a major factor in causing axle and suspension failure and any vehicle regularly driven over impaired road surfaces or used for commuting over pothole-strewn routes will ultimately incur damage.” He added, "Components such as bushes, track rod ends, drop links, springs and dampers are all susceptible.”
