Masking specialist Q1 Tapes is providing increasing numbers of Irish bodyshops with the ultimate in in-booth vehicle protection with its high quality automotive masking film. The premium product is designed to enhance the masking process and guarantee safe and effective protection.

Q1 says that its premium quality masking film offers many advantages over traditional masking methods as it is strong, light and easy apply and easy to dispose of. It also clings easily to the vehicle due to an electrostatic charge and has an enhanced ability to retain overspray.

Q1 Premium Protecting Film is made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) a plastic material that boasts excellent resistance and tensile strength, while also being able to withstand high temperatures. During production the masking film is also subjected to corona treatment, a technique that alters its properties to enhance surface tension which provides an increased ability to trap and hold overspray. This means paint does not slide downward and drop on the floor meaning both a cleaner job and booth.

The film offers a perfect solution to protect wide areas of a vehicle from overspray. It can be handled and applied easily by one person, and can be quickly and easily fastened to the car by masking tape. As it is a translucent polyethylene design it allows for easier movement of vehicles during painting operations.

The film’s high density composition makes it tear resistant which helps prevent rips and the danger of paint filtering through. It offers excellent adhesion as it is electrically charged in order to acquire electrostatic properties during the manufacturing process. This produces a cling effect which means the film adheres easily and consistently to the surface. In addition, the masking film has a centred print line that helps with alignment on the vehicle.

Q1 premium masking film has very high temperature resistance and is engineered to withstand booth temperatures up to 110°c. It also offers excellent solvent resistance due to the chemical structure of the HDPE material. The film comes in an easy roll out pack and once used, it can be quickly and easily compacted for cost effective and convenient waste disposal.
