In light of recent reported incidents involving carjacking, Renault Ireland has issued a notice to their customers to remind them that their vehicle is fitted with a Renault Anti-Intrusion Device (R.A.I.D).
This anti-intrusion device is fitted on all new Renault vehicles manufactured in the past 10 years. After the vehicle is started, the R.A.I.D system automatically locks the doors when the person is driving at approximately 10 km/h and over. If a door is opened or closed, it will automatically lock again when the vehicle reaches a speed of 10 km/h.
The Renault ANTI-INTRUDER DEVICE (RAID) is sometimes referred to as AUTOMATIC LOCKING WHEN DRIVING. After the vehicle is started the system automatically locks the doors when you drive at approximately 10km/h and over. The door can be unlocked by pressing the central unlocking button on the instrument panel or centre console (depending on version / vehicle). The door can be opened by opening a front door when the vehicle is stationary.
Turning (R.A.I.D) ON in your Renault vehicle: When the engine is running, press and hold the central locking button until you hear an audible bleep. The central locking LED light will then be ON, indicating the doors are locked and R.A.I.D is activated. You can turn the R.A.I.D system off by repeating the same process.
If you decide to keep the doors locked when you are driving, remember that it may be more difficult for those assisting you to gain access to the passenger compartment in the event of emergency. Renault customers are also advised that they can call into any Renault dealership for advice on the R.A.I.D.
