Schaeffler gave an impressive glimpse into the future of automotive technology at the recent Automechanika show at Birmingham’s NEC. The global technology giant played host to hundreds of technicians and distributor visitors on its stand which had the theme ‘Mobility for Tomorrow’.

Members of its online workshop resource portal ‘REPXPERT’ enjoyed a free VIP Experience which included a VIP entry ticket, hospitality on the stand, plus a goody-bag.

Malcolm Short, Technical Services Manager for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket said, “This was the second year we have exhibited at Automechanika in the UK and our visitors seemed very happy with what they saw and heard on our stand. There was a lot of interest in what we were exhibiting and demonstrating, particularly our double-clutch technology and LuK gearbox.” He added, “Not only did we highlight our leading position at the heart of the automotive aftermarket, but we also emphasised our OE pedigree.”

The Schaeffler REPXPERT technical team were busy giving practical hands-on fitting advice and hints and tips on the OE LuK clutch, INA engine components and FAG wheel bearing brands as well as information on how the company works closely with the World’s leading vehicle manufacturers. 

‘Mobility for Tomorrow’ showcased innovative Schaeffler OE technology including E-Wheel drive. This fully-electric system includes motors integrated into the wheel hub to create space saving, comfort and economy benefits.
It also included its i-ARC (Intelligent Active Roll Control) stabiliser which helps to balance cars on roads and around corners. The system works where the car remains flat and balanced when it would normally dip to one side and the innovative design can be found in many cars produced by the likes of BMW, Porsche, Land Rover and Audi.

A third main exhibit on the stand focused on Thermal Management. Schaeffler's thermal management module uses sensor-controlled rotary slide valves to precisely regulate the temperature balance in the vehicle's drive train and allows the ideal temperature window for the engine and the transmission to be reached rapidly. This has an effect on both the energy efficiency and the life of the drive train's components.
