Craig Breen recorded his second podium in a row when finishing in second at the Ypres Rally in Belgium.

His team mate Thierry Neuville finished first ahead of the Irishman and his co-driver Paul Nagle. Breen previously won this event in when it was part of the European Rally Championship. It follows hi second-place finish in Estonia on the previous event.

Both Hyundai drivers were in a league of their own on the narrow tarmac stages as they pulled away from the field enough to hold station and drive within themselves on the final day.

Breen didn’t have it all his own way towards the end of the event when misjudged a corner on Sunday’s opening stage that resulted in a collision with a bank that almost scuppered his first back-to-back wins of his career.

However the bank that he hit on the corner was softened by the deluge of rain in the area all summer and the damage to the Hyundai was not enough to knock him off the podium
