Sixty years of SWAG quality
Share:

This year marks the 60th since the introduction of SWAG replacement parts and the brand has been reflecting on it successful development and track record of component quality.

In the first few decades of its existence, “Süd-West-Autoteile GmbH”, established in 1954 in the town of Dietzenbach, Hesse, promoted itself as an international specialist in the engine technology sector. The company developed a reputation for expertise in this sector and today timing chain kits are still among its most sought-after products.

In 2000 the company was taken over by Ferdinand Bilstein GmbH + Co. KG and re-established under the company name “SWAG Autoteile GmbH”. This heralded a change from specialist to more generalist supply with a significant expansion of its range. However, this did not affect the longstanding reputation of the internationally renowned SWAG product brand in the engine technology sector.

The extensive introduction of new parts and product groups quickly made it necessary to enlarge the warehousing capacities. In 2005 the company settled in Gevelsberg, while continued success saw another move only four years later with a relocation to Wuppertal due to its rapid growth.

Today SWAG offers a range for professional vehicle repairs, with more than 22,000 parts to fit European cars. It includes the product groups; engine, steering, chassis and braking technology as well as electrics, fluids and SWAG Extra. Throughout this, the quality theme continues with every component across the entire range subject to stringent quality inspections.
