SKODA Ireland have donated diagnostic equipment worth almost €6,000 to the Waterford & Wexford Educational Training Board (WWETB). The donation marks one year of partnership between the two organisations.

WWETB are a provider of the 20 week programme that all SOLAS registered Motor Apprentices undergo as part of their 7 Phase programme. The Centre contributes to the national provision of Standards Based Apprenticeship, training up to 48 Motor Technicians each year. The SKODA diagnostic tester and diagnostic trolley unit will be central to that training allowing them to develop their diagnostic skills using the latest technology in modern workshops.

The partnership with SKODA Ireland came about as part of the annual SKODA Service Challenge, which sees technicians employed by SKODA across the country compete against each other to represent Ireland at the International SKODA Service Challenge which is held in Czech Republic each June.

Speaking about the partnership with WWETB, Dave Rave, Head of Aftersales at SKODA Ireland, said, “We are delighted to partner with the WWETB. We take career progression very seriously AT SKODA so by having this partnership with the WWETB -a centre of excellence for motor technician training - we are contributing to the training and development of future talent in the Industry.”

John Cassidy from WWETB, said, “We are extremely grateful to SKODA for providing us with their latest Diagnostic Equipment which will directly impact almost 150 apprentices over the next three years. This will allow trainees to work with the same equipment as franchised dealers, ensuring they have experienced the most up to date diagnostic procedures and systems.  SKODA also supported us in the purchase of a SKODA Citigo Monte Carlo at a significantly reduced price enabling us to continue the work that we do. We’re looking forward to working with SKODA Ireland over the coming years.”
