Soltec’s Managing Director Michael Corcoran is preparing to take on the ‘in to the west cycle challenge’ in aid of raising much needed funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI).
The cycle involves a gruelling 300km return trip from Mullingar to Galway over two days in the first weekend of September with an expected 150 cyclists taking part.
Michael started his cycling career only two years ago and has since completed a number of long distance endurance runs, however, the forthcoming ride will provide a real challenge to him. Michael has being training over the summer for the event and feels he has the legs to go the distance.
The aim is to raise money for NBCRI, which is a voluntary cancer research charity, located in Galway. The Institute was founded in 1991 and its key objective is to conduct research into the causes of Breast cancer and provide improved treatments for patients. They also raise awareness of Breast cancer and fundraise in order to provide betters services.
This year marks the 20th year of this event and coincidently it marts the 20th year Soltec has been in operation, to mark both milestones Soltec has become a co-sponsor of the ride.
With over 2,500 new cases of Breast cancer each year the work carried out by NBCRI is vital and its continued support is required, if you would like to donate you can do so by following the ‘mycharity’ link below.
