Automotive oil and chemical specialist Granville has issued some timely advice on spring cleaning cars, highlighting in particular aspects that many drivers tend to forget.

The winter can take its toll on vehicle interiors and paintwork but Granville says all too often when motorists prepare their cars for summer they forget many basics. To this end they have produced a poster highlighting five auto spring cleaning essentials.
  1. Clean between the seats – Hard to reach areas can harbour crumbs, debris, dirt and grime. This can increase fabric wear and cause odour problems. Make sure you vacuum hard to reach areas and seat creases.
  2. Look After Your Windows – Check wipers for damage and top up the screen wash. A special cleaner and rain repellent such as Rain-X 2in1 will also make a huge difference.
  3. Check your Tyres – Make sure they are correctly inflated and have a tread depth over 1.6mm. To get them looking good apply a coat of Turtle Wax Wet ‘n’ Black.
  4. Top-Up your Fluid - Check oil, water, transmission fluid and coolant. Remember to use the right fluids for specific vehicles which can be checked on the Granville website.
  5. Think about your fuel system. - Looking after the fuel system can significantly improve fuel efficiency and service bills. The Granville 10k Boost range has a wide variety of additives which will give fuel systems a thorough cleaning.
