Paint supplier Standox has highlighted it range of digital colour tools designed to give its customers an edge when it comes to accurate colour matching and colour competence.

Car manufacturers regularly offer new models with exclusive special colours and effect paints, which bodyshops may have to repair. This means it is vital for them to keep up to date with new colour developments and to have the right tools at hand for these complex repairs. Standox offers a range of digital colour tools for this purpose.

Standowin iQ is the web-based colour management software which regularly updates its colour database when connected to the Internet, giving refinishers fast access to the latest formulas. The software can run on PCs, smartphones and tablets and, no matter where it is used from, Standowin iQ can send formulas directly to the scales or to fully automated dosing systems.

Standowin iQ is complemented by the Standox Genius spectrophotometer which allows refinishers to measure colours quickly and directly on the vehicle. Genius reliably identifies colours and stores the measured data so that it can be directly translated into ready-to-use mixing formulations.

To make the most effective use of Standox digital colour tools the brand also offers MiKEY, the e-learning programme which provides clear tutorials and valuable practical tips on colour and colour management. Refinishers can be trained and assessed via a PC or mobile device at a time that suits them and without having to leave the bodyshop. Standox also offers hands-on training courses specialising in all aspects of special colour repairs at its Training Academy in Welwyn Garden City, in the UK.

The Standox website also offers a valuable resource where refinishers can go to find help and advice on colour from Standox experts. The Colour Competence area of the website can be found via a link on the homepage. It features a Colour Trends section where Colour Designers for parent company Axalta explain which car colours are trending and look ahead to new OEM colour developments, such as glass flakes and high chroma colours.

Customers who are logged into the My Standox section of the website can also access two new forms alongside the netbox: Best Match request and Colour Service request. These have been designed to get visitors the information they require as quickly as possible.
Lastly Standox has also published a Standothek guide entitled Perfect colour management which is full of helpful advice and useful information on colour and colour tools. From the reasons for colour variations and metamerism to mixing the right formula and effect matching and blending,
